Questions
How long does a link to a file work?
Every link to a file in the file library — opened in the app, copied with Copy Link, or put into an email or a text — works for 30 days. The 30 days are counted from when the link is made, not from when the file was first uploaded or last opened, so a file you have had in your library for a year is no different from one you added this morning: whichever moment a link to it was generated is where that link's clock starts.
A link that went out in an email or a text says this the same way, but from a reader's side there is usually only one moment that matters to them — when it landed in their inbox or messages — so those say "works for 30 days from when it was sent" rather than "from when it was made". It is the same rule stated from the other end: sending the email or text is what makes that link.
Once the 30 days are up, the link stops working. There is no warning before that happens and no way to extend a link that already exists — open the file again in the file library (or ask your teacher to, if you are not the one who uploaded it) to get a new 30-day link.
