Built and working
Scheduling
The calendar, and everything that makes a repeating lesson survive contact with a real term.
- One-off lessons, weekly holds, and recurring series bounded by a repeat-until date.
- Move a single lesson out of its series without touching the rest of it.
- Change a series from a chosen date onwards, leaving the lessons already taught and charged exactly as they were.
- Conflict detection that warns before a save double-books the teacher, rather than after.
- Lessons carry a location.
Students and families
Who is taught, and who pays for it — deliberately not the same record.
- Student records, with contact details of their own.
- Family accounts, so siblings sit on one balance and one invoice.
- Lesson notes kept separately for the student, the parent and the teacher.
- Name formatting set once, in settings, and applied everywhere.
Practice and repertoire
What happened between the lessons, and what is being worked on.
- Practice time logged per session against the student.
- Days practiced this week, days in the last thirty, and an average a day, worked out from those sessions.
- Repertoire pieces with title, composer, a status you can move, and the date assigned.
- Both come out in reports of their own.
Attendance
What happened at the lesson, and whether it is chargeable.
- Attendance statuses that each carry their own billable/not-billable answer, so a cancellation policy is a setting rather than a habit.
- Make-up credits issued by the statuses that should issue them, then booked against a future lesson, redeemed, or expired.
- Payment taken at the lesson, recorded against the family as it happens.
Money
An append-only ledger, and everything folded out of it.
- Charges, payments, credits and adjustments written once and never edited.
- Family balances computed from those entries on every read, never stored.
- Amounts held as whole minor units end to end, with the database refusing anything else.
- Invoices raised from what the ledger already says is owed, with the studio's own layout.
- Expenses and other revenue, categorised, with CSV import and a photo or PDF of the receipt attached to the entry.
Reports
Thirteen report types, each exporting CSV.
- Attendance, billable hours, lessons provided, family balances, make-up credits, practice log, repertoire, revenue and expenses, sales tax, mileage, student details, retention, and per-family tax credit receipts.
- Figures drawn in the studio's currency and dates in the studio's format.
- CSV is the only export format. There is no PDF — see below.
Business settings
The handful of decisions that change how the rest of the app behaves.
- Studio profile.
- How student and family names are formatted.
- How invoices are laid out and numbered.
- A locale that drives currency and date format together, rather than leaving them to disagree.
Questions
Can I sign up?
Yes. Sign-ups are open and every account starts with 30 days free and no card asked for — start a trial.
What does it cost?
$6.99 a month for your first 12 billed months if you sign up on or before 25 December 2026, and $9.99 a month after that; sign up after that date and it is $9.99 from the first bill. The 12 billed months begin when the 30-day trial ends rather than when you sign up, so starting today is about thirteen months before you are asked for $9.99. The pricing section says the same thing at length.
What happens if I lose the connection mid-lesson?
Nothing. Marking the register, taking a payment and moving a lesson all commit locally and sync when you are back on. Balances are recalculated from the ledger rather than stored, and records derived from a decision carry an id derived from the same facts, so the same thing recorded twice on two devices converges on one record instead of charging a family twice.
Does Lesson Lineup collect money from my families?
No. Lesson Lineup never asks a family for a card or a bank login, because there is nowhere in it to put one. You record the payments you have already been given — cash, transfer, however they arrived — and the ledger does the arithmetic from there.
Can I bring data over from another system?
Partly. Expenses and other revenue import from CSV. There is no general migration for students, families, lesson history or balances, and no import built against another studio product's export format.
Can my students book their own lessons?
No. There is no student or parent portal, so all scheduling goes through the teacher.
Can Lesson Lineup email a family their invoice?
Not today. Invoices are produced and the message templates and outbox exist, but no mail or SMS transport is connected, so nothing is sent. Sending an invoice means exporting it and sending it yourself.
Does it work in my currency?
It works in the currency your studio's locale sets, including currencies with no minor unit such as yen and won, and those with three decimal places. The exponent is part of the money model rather than an assumption that everything divides by a hundred.
